Hello my name is Al Farley I am trying to get my pops old 1977 MFG GYPSY back in thewater. I purchased a 1st gen mercury 20hp the year is a 1979 so the gentleman told me . It doesn't have a electric start only pull start
Runs excellent starts 1st pull. Im pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to remove the tiller and hook up the control cables. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I did purchase the 1st gen cables and hooked them up to the controller with no issues. I am mechanically inclined been a mechanic for 49 years. Mostly cars ,trucks and motorcycles .I also am currently restoring a 57 Thunderbird 312 . But since my Pop passed my goal is to get his old boat a float and moving . Sorry for the long write up.
