Ok, I am new to Boating/ Boat Engines/ Etc., I am not new to engine's and engine maintenance however. I have just come in to ownership of a Johnson 40 HP circa 1991 ( I think)
I think I committed a deadly sin, I dropped a bolt under the power head. I heard it rattle around for what seemed like tooooo long. I am very afraid it dropped down into the lower housing.
I am hoping that this is a rite of passage and I can get some guidance on what not to do next, or the common place the bolt ends up.
Please help so I can move on to the next rite of passage.
The bolt was on the uppercarbuerator. I was thinking it was a clean-out of the fuel bowl ( lots of oil-gas came out so that's a good sign ).
Anyway thanks in advance.
Feel free to blast me with things I should check before I hit the water
