I am interested in purchasing

I am interested in purchasing a 1994 hurricane deckboat 206 executive with a 1999 mercury 150 optimax outboard motor. If I have 6 to 8 people on the boat and want to pull a skier or a tube will I have any problems doing this. Any suggestion? How do I know if this is enough power?

"Although "deckboat" h

"Although "deckboat" has "boat" in it's name, do not confuse it with a "real" boat.

A deckboat is nothing more than a floating platform with all the hydrodynamics of a rock. Aside from that it has all the handling capability of a transport truck in a drive-thru - you could do it, but.....

Although the 150 Opti is a great motor and should push it along at a decent clip you really should maybe make a few more decisions before you fork over your hard earned cash.

If you are looking for a "party platform" to putt around in mostly on a straight line course, on relatively calm water, get a deckboat.

If you are looking for a rig to pull tubes, ski's, wakeboards etc you would be far better off with a bowrider of similar length.

A bowrider has a planing hull - will get up out of the water and boogie and will corner like a european sports car - a deckboat is shoving a whole lot of water along - kinda like a bull dozer....

Unfortunately there is no "one size fits all" boat out there - find a boat that fits your "primary" needs after you have really decided what those will be - or you will be nothing but disappointed...."
