"Hello all, I'm looking for some suggestions. With my boat warmed up, when I swiftly move into the full speed my engine will stumble. If I leave the throttle at the stumble point it'll pick up and proceed gaining speed. But if I continue moving into the full speed position it'll die. After a good long cruise around the lake the symptoms will finally go away. Which would have led me to believe it's just a cold blooded engine. But it does indeed act that way when warmed up. I did run a can of sea foam thru, but the problems are still there. I'm thinking it's time for a carb dissasembly and cleaning, but can you offer any other suggestions? Also, with the manufactures recommended prop diameter and pitch, i'm only at 3800 RPM (on dash tach) trimmed properly. Those prop specs are 14.75" x 21P. WOT spec is 4400 - 4800 I'm currently able to reach a speed of approx 38-40MPH.(on dash speedo) Should I be able to reach 4400-4800, or are those just Manufactures statements tested in a lab somewhere? Or could this be a symptom to my problem stated above? I'm about to purchase a 19P which I know will boost my RPMS to about 4200. 19 1/2 Foot Bayliner Capri 3.0 Merc Alpha 1."

Does the accellerator pump make a strong double squirt of fuel when the throttle is shoved quickly? If not then replace it.

You have too much prop; borrow a 17P and see what it does.
