1999 Johnson 50 HP Trim Sender

We have installed new gauges on our tracker, we have a trim gauge now that we would like to hook up. Cannot seem to figure out what the correct trim sending unit would be for it. The model number of motor is J50ELEER. There is two holes on the right side of the motor, if sitting in seat looking forward, but I don’t see how a sending unit could work there. I will post picture of the holes.

Part # 0583690 Looks like it would work. Yes, the trim sending unit is mounted under the engine bracket to the inside surface of the port side transom bracket. As the engine bracket comes down, it contacts the lever arm of the trim sending unit and the resistance value created as the arm moves is the signal the gauge displays.

You might also contact Tim's Outboard in Minnesota or South Central Outboards in Altamont, Illinois. Both carry a large selection of used parts and may have a trim sender you can buy for much less than new. Typically, these sending units don't go bad, so a used unit might be a good alternative.
