1999 Johnson 25 hp bypass cover fuel fitting

I have a question dealing with a Johnson J25TELEEE. On the Bypass cover below fuel pump there is a brass fitting. On initial look I thought it was treaded, but it is a snug slip fit. My queston deals with how to seal this. The manual doesn't call out the sealer or adhesive to use. I have attached a picture for more clarification. Thank you in advance for your time and any information.

I had the same question about the same fitting and I have heard from several folks to use permatex. Any auto part store should have it.
