just bought this motor. it shifted fine while on the ear muffs. I took it out, reverse was fine, then went underway got it up to speed. I slowed down and put it in neutral and noticed it was still going forward. I didn't notice any binding when bringing it back to neutral. I disconnected the shift cable and it moved freely and the shift shaft was moving. I got home and removed the lower unit and was able to move it to all the gears fine.
I did notice on the shift shaft on the lower unit that I could lift it up about an inch. Is that normal?
