1999 6hp stop switch motor model # E6R4EEM

The motor will start without the restart clip in place & can not kill motor with stop button. Is the stop switch gone, do not want to spend $80-$90 dollars for new stop switch, can the wire be cut & a toggle switch installed?? Thanks guys

Just measure with your multimeter. Or try to ground the stop wire from the powerpack to see if the engine stops.

Good morning & thanks for the reply. Now how do I test with a meter? Or which wire from the power pack do I ground & were do I ground it? I have traced the 2 wires down beside the power pack, pulled the rubber term socket apart, the motor still runs?

Look for a black/yellow wire from the power pack and ground that out. That should stop it.
