1999 40 hp sun tracter pontoon

I am new to boating. I have a 1999 sun tracker pontoon and the trim on motor goes up but not down. Help
It has a 40 hp mercury.

It could be the switch on the handle or the solenoid for the trim.Test light the contacts for up and down.J
