Just joined....I rebuilt my 1999 Johnson 35 gear case about 7 years ago. I have to assemble again now with a new gear set....might've hit something when my wife wasn't looking

For the life of me, I can't remember how I got all that in there and in what order. I'm quite mechanical and don't shy away from much, but i'm going to go broke if I have to keep buying $25 worth of detent springs and balls that I lose all over the shop. LOL!
Any help?
I've looked at old aftermarket service manuals but not the precise information I need.
