1999 25el Mercury scored piston

My #2 piston on my 25 HP merc

My #2 piston on my 25 HP mercury is scored. I took the powerhead off and trying to figure out how to disassemble the powerhead to get at the piston.
I took out 5 bolts at the carb end of the head and I can see that the powerhead comes apart in half right down the crankshaft in two. However it will not come apart?? Am I missing something here?
I have to get it apart before I can order any parts to see how much damage is in there.
What can I do if the cylinder wall is scored as well as hte piston?

You will need to remove

You will need to remove the carb first. then the reed valve/intake manifold assembly then you will find more bolts in there to split the crankcase. After you have split the case you can then see/remove the conrod and piston assemblies.
