1999 225, water pressure?

Hello. I bought the motor did the carbs., put on a new water pump assy,(BRP). Motor runs good. Good flow out of tell tail, but not as hard as my last 94 225, pressure is just under 5psi at 2000rpm on the hose. Motor has a temp. gauge, never went above 130 and heads felt even.... It is a long shaft, was i supposed to glue on the extension? I watched carefully to ensure the water tube went into the grommet.. Thanks for any input.

i put it in a tank, good water pressure......

Hose and muffs usually isn't a good way to determine pump operation. Putting the boat in water or at least in a tank with water above the pump is the best way to verify the pump is working right.
