I ran my boat twice on the water and got an oil alarm after fishing for a while....beep...beep... beep... took it home charged the batts alarm goes away....will low voltage cause this alarm.....bad battery?

The first time it happened I checked it and it was full, i checked the cap and the cork gasket was missing so I replaced the cap, thoght I had the problem fixed but it came back. I also thought it may be the battery since I bought the boat used. I pulled the starting battery and its almost 4 years old, had it load tested and they said it was ok..

Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep is an oil warning. If the sensor in the tank is not working or stuck in the down position you will get the Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep . Replace the cap.

Next thing to do is remove the oil pump and the drive gear from the side of the engine block. Look inside the hole and check the nylon drive gear. Have someone turn the flywheel by hand so you can check the whole gear.

Yes the gear on the pump is steel and the one on the crank is nylon...go figure. If the nylon gear is done, it is cheaper to pre-mix your fuel.

Also, while you are trying to iron out this problem with your oil system. Run the engine, while testing, on a remote tank with a 50:1 mix in it to protect the crank bearings.
