Power tilt and trim work perfect except when the motor is running and I try to trim down. I can stop the pontoon and with the motor still running pull the lever to reverse and it will trim down. Anyone have any Ideas. :(

does it fail from the switch on the motor also?check your fluid level..swap the relays?..if it moves with the relay swap replace both switches..they are about 15 bucks each....

If this problem exists when the key is in the ON/RUN position, BUT with the engine NOT RUNNING.... someone has wired the PTT setup into the wrong area of the ignition switch.

Solution..... Remove that portion of the PTT wiring and have it wired correctly.

Thanks guys for your reply. The Tilt buttons on the side of the motor. Only the down on the throttle is depressed while going forward is the problem. Everything was working fine and then it didn't. Wiring has not be messed with.

Thanks again for your reply.

unless they changed design between 1995 and 1999 that switch is a piece of crap....and to order the switch they want to sell you the cable assy for 150 bucks or so...the switch is not water tight and is held together by 4 little tabs if i remember....you can take it apart and clean the little brass or copper rocker etc but when you open it up be careful not to lose the little parts....it actually would be best to cut the cable and take it to a bench with good lighting and then splice the cable when you put it back...and dont over tighten the one screw when you put the switch back in...it screws into a little plastic tab and is easy to break..
