1998 yamaha c50 tlrw trim issue

My 1998 c50 power trim will only go up. when I press down I do not even get a click sound. could this be a contact issue. where should I begin to trouble shoot.another issue i have is when engine is at speed it slowly looses power almost like it is loosing a cylinder but as I back throttle down it suddenly kicks back in only to start to drop back again as throttle is applied. any specific ideas?

Are there two solenoids side-by-side? Switch them...if the trim down now works buy two new solenoids and replace both as a pair. If that doesn't work then the trim switch may be bad or a wire came off of it.
