So I have a 1998 mercury 9.9 4 stroke manual start, tiller handle. It was made by Yamaha back in the day and runs fine except at idle. When cleaning the carb I found that the choke valve is messed up. This part and this carburetor are discontinued and I've had zero luck finding even an old used one. The part number for the carburetor is 6G8-14301-09-00. Has anyone ever put a dirt bike 4 stroke tillotson carburetor in something like this? I know it will need to be close in CCs and it will need an adapter plate to attach it to my intake manifold. As well as a throttle adaptation. But in my mind a carburetor is a carburetor? Any suggestions help.
