"Hey Guys,
I was hoping to get some help on my, new to me, Mercury outboard. I took it to the lake for the first time this past weekend and it fired up right away. I backed it off the trailer and looked backed, but did not see a tell tale stream. I had it idling for about 30-40 seconds and still no stream. I sat for a minute then parked it in a stall with still no stream. The previous owner said that the tell tale wasn't strong until you opened it up. It does have a water pressure gauge, but it was reading 30 psi+, as it didn't move at all. I had a '99 Force that started "peeing" after a couple seconds. I may just be a little more cautious but I don't won't to do serious damage. I'm going to replace the water pump this weekend, but wanted to get some insight first. Also, I'm new to an oil pump as all of my outboards were pre-mix. Is there an alarm system that sounds if the outboard is not getting enough water or oil? Thanks in advance for the help!!!!!!"
