New to the site. Wondering if someone could help? I have a 98 454 mag. MPI in my Baja and am having a problem where it won't go past 2800 rpm either at idol or in gear...just falls on it's face as soon as it hits 2800rpm. Starts fine and idols fine?? I have replaced the fuel filter and put some fresh gas in...neither has helped. Any help would be appreciated.

"i'm by far not one of the experts on this site, but for what it's worth, could be a plug, or wire issue, but more likely it could be your timing advance weights are sticking, or have a broken spring (if your model has mechanical timing advance)."

"First thing to do is plug in your scan tool and check the error codes. Clear the errors and take the ECU out of the guardian mode. Run the boat and see if an error code has returned. This new code is then your problem. 454MPI have electronic timing, so no weights in the dizzy !"
