1998 Merc 25 Hp fuel pump problem I think

I have replaced the diaphram o

I have replaced the diaphram on the pump which is made on the side of the carb Im not getting any fuel into bowl after priming bowl fills up. When I start it engine runs then emptys bowl.Is the fuel pump not working? I have checked compression which is 130 on each cylinder checked all lines and filter and nothing I can see is leaking or needs to be replaced but if I pump the primer bulb while engine is running it stays running any suggestions would be great. Only thing I have not replaced is the pump itself. Any help appreciated.

"Ian's on the right trail. Pull the carb and check the gasket. The pulsing air must go through the hole in the gasket to the carb without leaking or the pump won't work. I've seen where the gasket was put on wrong, plugging the hole, and where it was torn, allowing an air leak.

"Thanks for the Help had the wrong gasket on carburetor where it mounts to engine. It was blocking air from getting to fuel pump. Just got it home. Runs better than when I bought it.

I purchased a manual and realized the wrong gasket was on it when i bought it. Got to take it out on the water yesterday all I had to do was adjust the idle a little and it ran great. No other problems the year model had 2 different carbs on the same engine and also the kit was for 25 to 60 HP carb rebuild

Ain't those great little motors! Got one on the little boiat in the photo (though mounted on a Mark 30 tower and lower unit).

"Doesnt go fast but gets me there and back with a drop of gas (mine is a full merc mounted on a 98 tracker 165) Love it. Especially when everyone else is stopping for gas and I go on to lake. and dont need any fuel

I got a problem (or had a

I got a problem (or had a problem) with tach it jumps around every once in awhile. Traced wires all are good checked nuts and wires on tack they are tight thinking maybe tach is going out not sure. Any Idea on this. but tach worked fine (after I rebuilt the carb) when I took it out yesterday. I was watching to see if it acts up again.Not too much worried about it though.Think maybe it was the skip it had making the rpms jump around. I got a deal on the repair manual paid $20 for it brand new in plastic at a tackle shop that I go by on way home from work everyday.
