1998 johnson 9.9 sailmaster.... which battery??

Just sold my 1991 Johnson 15hp and recently purchased a 1998 Johnson 9.9 sailmaster (2 cycle) .. For my old motor I had been using a lead acid vented battery due to a rectifier only charging system, my question is, with my (new to me motor) do I still use a vented battery or can I use a sealed deep cycle battery. Also does this motor have a complete charging system or is it like my old one, rectifier only? Thanks

A model # would help. If it's electric start it still has the rectifier charging system. Use the vented battery. Can't be sure of this until you post the model #.

Model is a J10SELECC and it is an electric start. Thank you for the answer.
