hey guys, first post. i recently was given a 35 hp 3 cylinder johnson. motor has great compression at 130 psi on all 3. rebuild the carburetors with new carb kits. new water pump. spark jumps 3/4" on spark tester. basically gone through the engine and replaced the recirculation lines, spark plugs, wires, etc. carbs were sync and lynced after rebuild. pulling plug wire from each cylinder each has the same effect. However the motor still won't open up. Verified it not being a fuel problem by spray gas and oil mix into the carbs and no change. Figured I had nothing to lose so I ran it on the water hose - still won't open up there either. Pumped primer bulb while running and made no difference. Here is in the water video and one on hose. Any ideas? possibly a slow mode because the oiling system isnt hooked up?

i remember reading about checking voltage to coil at higher rpm. check the cdi webpage. you will of course need a peak reading voltmeter.

That oiling system should not be hooked up.--In fact it should have been taken off and thrown away !----- Have you checked the timing / flywheel key ?-------

the oil system has been removed. the problem has been isolated to the temp sensor in the head causing the motor to go into slow mode. now the question is to replace the sensor, or just leave it unhooked and run a water pressure gauge.

Have same motor, recirculation lines are destroyed/missing/melted need plumbing diagram, have no idea where lines go?
