Does anyone know if I can make

Does anyone know if I can make a 1998 force 9.9 into a short shaft instead of a long shaft? Thanks
 
"Yes, but may not be worth it

"Yes, but may not be worth it unless you can get the parts really cheap - you need a new exhaust housing (leg), new drive shaft, shift shaft and water tube.

Or get yourself a jack plate (for this size motor can be obtained for about 100 bucks new) that will simply raise the motor on the transom and leave it as a long shaft."

"I don't know if they interchange but I have a short shaft 1972 8 HP Chrysler and would like a long shaft for my sailboat. If they will,would be glad to swap. I just bought this motor and it's like brand new. Supposed to never been used out of an estate sale. Jim Bielinski"
