I am having trouble with my tilt trim relays, solenoid, or throttle wiring. My tilt trim motor is randomly rising and lowering without a command to do so. How do I know which to replace? I am assuming if it goes up and down the motor is fine.

Thanks- Tom Buck

Start with throttle wiring...switch in handle, look for rust in the switch, maybe.
You could disconnect the boat harness TT wiring plug, and see if the problem stops.
The wire harness/plug you would disconnect will have a red/white, a blue/white, and a green/white wire in it, and I THINK...not sure...that it is a completely separate plug that makes it convenient for the disconnect.

The problem is NOT in your TT relays under the cowl....that would be a longshot.

You can also eliminate the lower pan switch by disconnecting that switch....
It may be a 3 wire Deutsch plug, but I seem to remember it being bullet connectors. Just disconnect the red/white bullet to disable all lower pan functionality.

When I used to run into this problem it usually was the switch in the throttle handle or the cowl on the motor.
