Hello,
We are working on a 1998 Evinrude 25hp outboard with a jet attachment for river fishing. This motor was recently acquired and has been, we believe, well maintained. The seller volunteered that a carburetor service was needed, which we are now trying to do. It appears that to remove the carburetor, we'll need to remove the starter assembly first, all just to access the carburetor nut that is being blocked by the starter. First of all, am I right that the starter needs to be removed to access the carburetor nut for removal of the carb? It appears that the starter is attached to a bracket that needs to be removed as a whole. We desperately need advice on how to remove this starter bracket. We've removed a few bolts, but the bracket doesn't move yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
