1998 90hp Evinrude

On my 90hp 4 cyl outboard ther

On my 90hp 4 cyl outboard there is a device on top of the upper carborator that apperars to be a fuel solenoid. On it is a small red knob and a air valve like you would find on a tire. Can someone tell me what the adjuster and the valve is for? Is is not covered in my book. Turning the valvecounter clock wise will kill the engine.

"that,is your primer solenoid,like a choke,...moving the red lever,opens it up for manual operation,allowing fuel to enter primer hoses.lever shoudl be pointed to rear of solenoid.,the shrader valve on top....is for injecting fogging oil(storage) and de-carb."
