"Ernie, if you read the next post down (1988 Bayliner Capri) I have given a bit of history and views on Force outboards.
If you are willing to buy an outboard that has been orphaned by it's builders, has no dealer network, parts are no longer being produced and has a very limited aftermarket at best, that's a personal decision.
You would be hard pressed to find anyone who works on outboards to recommend buying a Force.
In that Horsepower range invest your money in an OMC (Johnson/Evinrude) or even a Merc. They may not be as well built as the Japanese brands (although that is debatable), but you can find a dealer on every corner - the companies are doing well, and will probably be in business for a good few years yet.
That means parts, and service will be available - and that's half the battle to keeping your motor running for you...."
