I have lurked here a bit, but never posted before. My 200 EFI won't make full power, and my Merc mechanic friend (passed away recently) said it was probably in limp mode. I get random beeps from the alarm from time to time, and then it goes away.
My ignition and EFI are working correctly. The alarms random activity has been around for more than a year. The float sensor is working correctly. The motion sensor is not damaged, and I understand they rarely fail. But I have not checked the voltage output when the engine is turning. I can get an alarm module easily enough.
What puts the engine in limp mode? Is it caused by the alarm module? How does it limit power?
