1997 Vs. 1998 70 hp evinrude

I am looking at purchasing a 1998 Evinrude 70hp and wanted to know the difference between the two motors and mounting. The motor does not have controls but I have a set of controls from a 1997. I have been told there is a lot of different things between the two motors.
