1997 suzuki dt140 lower unit removal

Hi,,i will be attempting to remove lower unit and change impeller. This will be my 1st time removing a lower unit. The manual is somewhat limited on instruction. Is this a relatively easy job, or something better suited for a marine mechanic?? Thanks in advance..bob

Nothing to loose and everything to gain.-------Take out the bolts and the lower unit will come down. -An assistant will help with operating the shift control.----------When lower unit comes down you will see the shift rod connecter and you remove a pin.----Certainly no need to pay anybody for this simple work.-------------Parts diagram is at -----boats.net

Racer. Thanks for the response..encouraging. so it sounds as if theres no draining of the oil. Just drop lower unit and the pump plate should be visible..

No need to drain any oil at all !
