1997 Mariner 60hp slowed down

"My engine was running fine all day then as the fuel run out in the tank it spluttered a little so I cut the engine changed over the tanks and after that the engine ran at about a quater of the speed, it turns over as normal when iddle but theirs hardly any power when I open it up. Their was some air in the fuel line could this be the cause, the air isnt in the fuel line now but could of got in to the fuel line system ?

Can anyone help."

"did you open the air valve on the 2nd tank I have seen alot of people do it, if so try unpluging the gas lines look at the seals if there good plug them back if that doent work pour some gas in the 1st tank and see if that helps thats all I can think of. I would think the air would have worked its way out."

Thanks for the help Im going to try that in the week. Someone else said it might be an over heat function and because I switched of the engine to change over fuel lines it may have kicked in ?? does anyone know of this?? Im sure I read somewhere that the engine switches down to one cylinder when it does this ??
