I have a 1997 Fast Strike 150. It runs great on the hose. On the hose I can put it in gear and it will run great. When we put it in the lake it starts great and will idle in gear, but as soon as I put it under a load it shuts off. It will start right back up but shuts off again as soon as I try to throttle up. I replaced the hose and bulb, but same results. The bulb will not pump up hard. When I pump the bulb I hear an air noise out of the engine area. It is the hose on the top of the air box, and it is blowing air out. I can cover the hose and the noise stops but the bulb still doesn't pump hard. I tried pulling the fuel hose from the fuel tank and putting it into a gas can, but that didn't help. The boat has a hot foot, and the spring on the hot foot is very weak. It will not return unless manually moved. It must also have some type of fail safe on the hot foot because it will not start if the hot foot is left in the WOT position by mistake. The engine does smoke somewhat but not excessively. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. The engine is on a 1997 Stratos that is my son's boat and he fishes in college. He has some tournaments coming soon and I am trying to get it fixed asap.
