"last 2 time I went striper fi

"last 2 time I went striper fishing my low oil alarm horn started beeping.my oil tank was about 1/2 full.I gave the ball 1 slow squeeze and it cleared the alarm both times for the rest of the day. both days I stared the boat at 5 am,and and the night temps were mid 30's.I know the cold temps are making oil thicker, this is the org VRO pump,do you think its time for a new vro?Durring the summer I put about 40 hrs on motor and not 1 alarm for anything.after alarm cleared I ran boat at 4200 rpm for 40 minutes, then 1000 rpm (trolling around) for 3 hrs, with NO more alarms, both days THANKS TED"

"first,..thick oil,wont cause

"first,..thick oil,wont cause a low oil alarm,..it WILL,cause a no-oil alarm..
SECOND--Since this is original VRO--u ainta kindin',..it needs replacing!!!
Your whole engine depends on that lil gadget, its wiring, electronics, and diaphragms and o rings.
I bought a 97 200 4 mos ago,and many of my customers saw me doing the same thing to it,as i preached to them...GET IT OFF of there.Replace the entire hose and primer bulb assm.Replace the filter screen in oil tank, empty and clean thoroughly the oil tank..Get a FACTORY service manual for specifics on replacing the new one. There IS a rebuild kit avail, however, twice this past summer,i had vro's w/cracked/warped cases causing prob's..so i chose a new one,as i tell all my customers. There are procedures for testing the new pump when installed, many people simply install them and go.,that is playing w/fire..again,your eng depends on that system, even a new one could have prob's..verification procedures and added oil in tank until usage can be verified,..is critical, and imperative!"
