"Hello, I was wondering what type of oil people use in there ficht engines? Do you use the regular ficht oil or do you use something else? I was looking around a bit and in my vehicals I use amsoil and seen that amsoil sells HP Injector Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil (HPI) and shows the ficht trademark on there recommeneded application chart. I was really wondering if anyone is using this? I am sure its a great motor oil but I want to make sure its better then the standard ficht oil.

Thanks for any input!

"Jessie,

The manufacturer specifies that only oil that is rated TC-W3 be used in these engines. Many oils are rated TC-W3, but my opinion is that only a few are top notch oils. Stick with Evinrude/Johnson, Mercury, or Yamaha oils.
They are more expensive because they are better.

Paying attention to the NMMA r

Paying attention to the NMMA rating with 2-stroke oil and API rating with crankcase oil is your main concern. Advertising and packaging are expensive. I'd rather put my money into my own boat than help buy one for some advertising executive.

"Price was not the concern I had when asking, only the quality of the oil. amsoil cost about 76 bucks for 12qt. I have not made it to a dealer yet to see the cost of the ficht oil. Does not really matter, only was wondering what would be better. I assume your guys are saying to use the johnson ficht oil.

Thanks for the input,

"Take it from someone who has blown a 150 Ficht twice due to excessive carbon buildup.
DO NOT use cheap oil even if it is TC-W3 rated. The cheap oils WILL produce excessive carbon formation in the cylinders.

I'd recommend the Johnson/Evinrude XD50 for older Fichts and the XD100 for the newer models. It might be overkill, but I also recommend some brand of carbon inhibitor. (Twice bitten and VERY very shy!!!)"

"Thanks for your input, I talked with one 1 marine mech and he said years ago they used amsoil and there was definatally alot less carbon build up, only downfall was the price. I trust amsoil in my vehicals and it seems to have high standards so I might try it.
