Very few people have been able to do that conversion and get away with it. Rust clogs the heat exchanger and causes overheating.

Thank you. I did talk with a marine supply company and they said it's more than likely Dexron and since it's red then he said that would be the fluid to use. They are direct drives.it depends upon the GEAR that's behind the engine....
most of the inline velvet drives and the hurth gears take DEXRON III...V-drives are a different beast...
