Hey all,
My buddy and I purchased a used 8hp four stroke. At full throttle the crankcase vent tube to carb is spewing out out oil. We figure the crankcase ventilation camber is over flowing and took it apart to find a breather plate with a reed valve on it. We thought that we could just replace the reed valve( logical to assume that this is malfunctioning) but the plate and the valve are no longer availiable. A colleague figures that it's not the reed but it could probably be piston ring blow bye causing lack of negative pressure behind the reed. Re-ringing this is going to be a big job and thought that maybe someone has a better diagnosis.
