1997 5.7 engine water pump

Is the water pump on the engine the same as an automotive water pump?

Or do i need to buy a marine one?

it is a 1997 5.7LX engine.

It is not the same.

Main difference is the impeller. the marine should use a bydirectional bronze blade.
Automotive use a stamped STEEL unidirectional blade.

The stamped steel will rust........
