The motor will idle all day @ 850-900 rpm (tach reading) in gear. Drop it into neutral and the RPM drops and it usually stalls within 5-10 seconds. Fire it back up, put it in gear, and it will idle all day. Opposite of the way it used to behave. Should drop rpm not raise when you put it in gear. The motor runs very well otherwise.
Changed the water pump last week. The gasket for the exhaust box must be leaking. Had small "exhaust" spots on each side of the seam where the lower unit bolts to the mid section. Could this be causing the problem?
