"I went to the lake over the weekend, took the travel cover off, a minute later my engine starts trying to trim down. It was unable to go down because the trailering bracket was still engaged. I could stop it from trying to go down by holding either of the 2 control switches in the up position. I took off the cowling and switched the relays and it continued to try to go down. I disconnected the wiring plug that goes to the cowling switch and no affect. I then disconnected the wirng plug that goes to the console switch and that got it to quit engaging.

I then proceeded to launch and spent the day by just using the tilt and trim switch on the engine cowling. Went home and that night went out to check the problem out. I reconnected the console wiring plug nothing engages, I hit the console switch and both up/down function fine.

The question is where do I start to be able to isolate what the problem is/was?

Thanks for the help."

"I will open up the switch and take a look at it. I doubt that moisture would be causing the problem as it had been stored indoors for the previous 2 weeks. But there might be a loose wire that caused the short, as the road into the dock is 2 miles of washboard/potholed gravel."
