Hello, I have been working on my outboard (1996 yamaha 30 deo 2st) which has turned out to be a nightmare.
First of all it was running very rough and struggled to start/idle as it was down a cylinder and also over heating. so I messed about cleaning carbs, checked reeds, checked cdi and hd leads and then changed impeller and thermostat and none of that made any difference what so ever. I then took the plug out of cylinder 3 (the one which wasn't firing) and yeah... water started flying out the bore hole as I turned the engine over.
I then took head over and replaced head gasket which was completely obliterated, I put it all back together and the engine now runs on all 3 cylinders and sounds to be running perfect but... took it out in the sea today and the overheating alarm comes on as soon as I go over (approximately) half throttle, runs perfect for a limitless amount of time until I give it more revs.
What could be wrong as I've put in new impeller, thermostat and head gasket.
