1996 xr6 bogging down at 3000 rpms

"Engine runs fine in nuetral . In gear it boggs down and will not turn over 3000 . No alarms all gauges good , fuel and filter good all fuel lines good. Any ideas???"

"So bogs as the true load on the engine increases. That is normally indicative of a clog in the fuel system somewhere or a breakdown with the fuel pump(s).

My first guess would be clogged high speed jets in one or more of the carbs...

Of course, that's always assuming that the compression is good and you don't have a problem with the ignition system - both of which would normally be checked first before troubleshooting a suspected fuel issue.

And what do the spark plugs look like? (besides long things, white on one end with metal at the other)

"And not likely the stator - even the stators that have high and low speed windings (cross over) around 1500 rpms - so usually work or don't work.

If the low speed are shot, she won't start - if the high speed are shot it won't run above idle, if there is a break in the coils that separate when she gets warm, then it won't run at all when warm - since your problem is occuring around the 3000 mark it is most probably a carb issue..."
