"I am considering the purchase of a 1996 Four Winns that has a newly rebuilt 5.0 Volvo Penta}(Ford block) with EFI.
The engine was rebuilt due to lack of compression on the #2 cylinder. The cause of the loss of compression was due to a hole in the #2 piston, possibly resulting from injector issues. My mechanic said the Ford engines had dependability issues, specifically with the fuel delivery system.
The results of the latest compression test were good, and the sea trial was also positive.
I am seeking comments good/bad on the engine and fuel delivery system. Does anyone have experience with the engine? Am I going to have a difficult time finding parts?
Your comments and advice are appreciated."

"I have also heard the same with the Fords. I also see much fewer of the Ford parts on ebay. V/P parts are expensive enough, even for the common Chevy 305 and 350's. Going with one of the Fords (only two types out there I believe) might make it a little harder to find parts and the cost might make you want to cringe. There are 3 guys on this board who really know their stuff and I'm sure they'll answer soon. (Unless they are all out on the lake that is).
