1996 Mercury 25hp 2-stroke

Recently purchased used motor a 1996 25hp mercury outboard, I was changing the plugs and found one on bottom to have been thread repaired. I tried to get new thread repair kit but the plug still will not tighten down. what is the housing unit that the plugs go into called and can it be replaced? any help would be appreciated...Smitty

The sparkplug hole is in the engine block assembly.-----Big $$$ to replace with new.-------If you can do the work yourself it might be worthwhile.-------Visit a good machine shop to see if they can help with various thread repair inserts.--------There are lots of these motors around for parts, but it involves lots of work as well/
