Does this motor have a rev limiter. As mentioned in another post my motor just started leaking oil into intake from the valve vent tube. what i forgot to mention was i recently got a new prop. I do not have a tach but the prop guy said unless its bouncing off the rev limiter it should be ok. It doesnt seem to be hitting a rev limiter. I had the boat running in driveway today and there were no issues with oil leaking. So got me thinking if the motor was really reving it could splash it out the tube. So to start is it possible my motor doesnt have a rev limiter and am over reving.

The rev limiter on this model is an internal component of the CDI unit (which basically controls the ignition).

It has three "non-adjustable, no user changeable, internal settings", basically "hard coded" right into the CDI unit.

The first two will limit the rpms to 2000 in the event of an overheat or low oil alarm.

The last one is a 6200 rpm "over speed" limiter to prevent a "runaway" condition of the motor.

Now, I am not familiar enough with the "guts" of the CDI on this model so can't say if "only" the over-rev limiter could go flooey and everything else would continue to work fine or not.
