"The tilt on my 200hp Mariner

"The tilt on my 200hp Mariner keeps coming on by itself. I recently replaced both modules on the back of the engine and it worked fine for a while. Today, however, the tilt has raised the motor all the way up while the boat is sitting here in my garage. The tilt motor is extremely hot. It may be ruined?? I have unhooked the battery to let it cool off. Any ideas as to why it keeps coming on by itself and how to fix? I don't think it is a moisture problem. Thanks!!"

"Steve, the first thing I woul

"Steve, the first thing I would do is check the "In/Out button's, it sounds to me like you might have a bad switch.second thing I would do is bleed the line's, you might have air built up (pressure) that may be couseing the tilt to rise?......Im no macanic, but just a cuple things I would check before spending alot of money on electical parts."

"Thanks William!! In checking

"Thanks William!! In checking my trim switches, I have discovered that I have a short in the "up" switch at the front of the boat. I took my trolling motor off the boat Saturday, and am sure while banging around on the front of the boat caused the short to "short out". The motor raised without me hearing it or noticing it until Sunday. I will replace the switch. Many Thanks for the heads up on checking switches! Also, after the tilt cylinder cooled off, it seems to still work fine. Thanks again!!"
