1996 Force 120 ELPT running poorly

Motor will run fine until it's really warm. Can pull a skier or wakeboarder around the lake a few times then motor bogs down and will almost stall when on full throttle. Any ideas?

Sounds like the tank vent is clogged.
Or the fuel line is pinched, or Ethanol has melted the inside of the hose.
Possible the connectors are sucking air.

Test the overheat alarm.
Key on, ground the sending unit on the head.

You would notice a squeeze bulb that is collapsing in all the above scenarios except if the hose is collapsing on motor side of the squeeze bulb. If the connector at motor is leaking one direction.......sucking air, you will likely see a leak of fuel when you squeeze the primer bulb before cold start up. Does this have an integral fuel tank, or is it a 6 gallon.....I mean separate? Last question.......when did the problem start or has it done this on and off?

The sad part about these forums is sometimes we never hear back, especially if it was a .......dah!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to work on it until today. Did some visual checks on the fuel lines all looks good and all is clean inside with no evidence of fuel leaks. Looked at the fuel pump checked the diaphragms they looked fine. Took off the carb bowls and they were clean as a whistle. Took off the fuel filter and it looks fine too. Checked compression they were 135 140 135 and 140. Drained the fuel tank dry and put some new premium gas with Seafoam added and ran a few litres through, still have the same problem. Now I can hardly get a hole shot.

The problem started last boating season and my boat is a Maxum 1700 XR with a plastic fuel cell not sure of the capacity. I thought the tank vent might be clogged too and I left off the fill cap a couple times to test that not sure if that would vent it properly or not but it didn't change anything.

Do the cyl.drop test.
Start the motor, pull one plug wire at a time.

If pulling the wire makes a difference, then you might have a bad coil, stator, trigger?

outboardignitiondotcom has test procedures for your motor.
Since it's a 96 the igniton system is Mercury.

Could a faulty primer bulb cause this? When I give it a hole shot it runs for maybe a minute then stalls it's like it's used all the gas in the line and that's it.

Had a friend sit at the primer bulb and keep pumping it and the boat ran well for much longer until it eventually stalled, the bulb was essentially collapsed at this point. So it seems to me it's a fuel delivery problem... Next step is to test pressure coming out of the fuel pump?

If the bulb collapses? then the tank vent might be clogged?
The squeezie might be bad? right out of the box they can be bad, had 3 Tempo squeeze's bad brand new.

3 days ago ran the tank dry and put in 25 litres of premium and a full can of Seafoam. Took it out this morning and it ran like a top I guess the carbs were fouled. Took a few days to loosen it all up I guess. Did 2 loops around the lake no issues. Could it be that simple?
