Hey Everyone,
New the forum but have followed as a guest. I really appreciate the insight. I have an evinrude 200 ocean pro (1996, 480 hours) on my boat. The first year after I got the boat it ran really well. Well that was until last year (year two) when I started have problems. Last summer I have to replace the Flywheel after one of the magnets came loose, the stator, the timing base and the upper crank bearing housing (along with the bearing and oil seal). The boat wasn't starting and I noticed that all these parts seemed to be damage due to the magnet coming loose. I was able to run it once after that and put maybe an hour on the boat without any problems.
Once I tried to take it out again, I noticed that I was having fuel issues the fuel restriction alarm kept going off even while idling. It sat for a while while I tried to fix the issues above, so I suspected bad fuel. I have been running new fuel off an external tank, i kept getting alarms at random after start up. either low oil, no oil, or fuel restriction. I read on here that one of the issues could be the vacuum switch. So I replaced that. It was Oct at the point so I winterized with and left it until this march.
This March I ran seafoam into the fuel pump and carbs to get them clean. Now I have trouble getting it to start, but when it does start it doesn't idle, it will start at about 2k RPM for a few seconds then run up to 3500 for a few seconds, down to 1800 up to 3k down to 2500 and then runs away to 4500 to 5 k before I kill the switch.
I thought maybe I had bad carb seals that was letting air leak in, so I rebuilt the carbs. Unfortunately this problem is still occurring.
I'm tempted to take it to an evinrude mechanic but I thought I would looks for advice here first.
Thanks in advance!
