"What are the chances of domino effects of a rectifier going bad? Can it effect the stator? And, do the power packs slowly loose their ability to perform or do they go out all at once. Found system not charging and bad stator. Now system is charging, but now the tach reads off. The new zero rpm's are now at the 5000 mark. Before the rectifier was changed, the tach worked fine."

"the rectifier sends pulses like a ac frequency from one or two magnets to the tach you can tell by the different size one i beleive check them, are you a hundred percent sure it was the regulator in the first place might of been your stator the whole time or u just replaced it anyways, check all the wires and check how many volts are in the grey wire i cant remember it will be like 8 volt up and down follow it all the way to tach from engine - the packs are a on or off type from my experience they may decline a little but should still run fine first i check the grey wire and make sure ur careful with the power and power going into the stator the wrong way will damage the stator"

i cant remember when johnson switched there ignitions some of that i said may not be the case on urs
