hey all, I am in the process of rebuilding this 70 hp evinrude after # 3 piston came apart. not much damage to block or cylinder. had block bored .030 oversize. ordered 3 new pistons and one new rod. after getting all parts from machine shop and starting assembly, i noticed the new top roller bearings for rods are not the same as oem. the new ones are a caged roller. there is no room in the assembly for the two thrust washers. is this an improvement over oem or a wrong part combination. i wanted some unbiased input before i ask the shop owner. thanks in advance!!!!

Model # of engine needed.-----Pictures of the parts ?---Sounds like there is a mix-up in parts , as in you have the wrong pistons.

thanks for input. i will get model # and part # of new parts and pics.maybe i can find the part # on web page or something. will repost later this evening.

model#e70tleda .from what i can tell, after looking on WSM webpage, this bearing is a direct replacement for oem part # for my motor. it seems to be a generic type bearing that fits several other motors as well.i am still a little skeptical about using it. ALL COMMENTS WELCOME!!!!! THE REPLACEMENT PARTS CAME FROM WSM PERFORMANCE. THE BEARING PART # IS 010-140. OEM PART # IS 0395627.

Yup, it's a replacement for the loose needle bearing type. Try fitting the bearing into the piston, see how much side to side play there is. And those aren't thrust washers on the original bearings, they are retainers for the loose needle bearings. I'd run the bearings you have, but if it's gonna bother you, return them, and get the OEM style ones.

put bottom end together this evening. STILL waiting for lcoktite 518. i asked fastenal distributor if he could get me a tube LAST WEEK. how hard is it to get this stuff?
