I have a 1996 50 horse Johnson model j50tleds . When i get it off the trailer crank it let it warm up and down the lake I go ....fish a spot ten or fifteen min go to leave crank it up...it spins fires cuts off spin it longer hit the choke and when it does fire smokes like a cold start...why doesn't it fire up after driving it across the lake ? I had both carbs rebuilt and the top cylinder is at 150 with the bottom cylinder at 130 with some scaring.replaced lines from tank to motor bulb and fittings.it New to a an electric start outboard.maybe I'm not doing something right ....any help I would appreciate thanks

Do the following test:
Run the engine hot (over the lake), then shut down and wait 10 minutes While waiting, remove the plugs and hook up a spark tester. After 10 minutes, crank and check if still spark. If weak or no spark, you have a thermo electrical problem in your ignition system, either in coil(s) or power pack. If still good spark, back to carbs and adjustments.

What Haffiman said. My 225 did the reverse--wouldn't start when cold and damp, started fine when hot. Checked and found no spark when cold and damp. Turned out to be a bad timer base. Your ignition system may be failing when hot. When you keep turning it over and it is not starting, you are drawing in excess fuel. When it finally does start, then everyone thinks you work for skeeter patrol.
