1996 50fl rough idle with sterndrive up

i have a 1996 5.0fl with stern

i have a 1996 5.0fl with sterndrive up all the way crank engine rough idle the whole boat rocks cut it off crank back up idles fine could this be a u-joint problem or gimbal bearing going out also with the sterndrive down it does not do this

the lake is real shallow at the dock and i have to trim up the drive to keep it out of the mud but why would it shake real bad then i shut it off crank back up and it dont shake

i plan on pulling the drive th

i plan on pulling the drive this winter to check out the drive line & bellows what gasket kit do i need to put the drive back on
